About
Welcome to Vogue Republic!
This blog is currently a work in progress. This blog is inspired in large part by my need to find an outlet for the passions of my life. I hope it will become a modern discourse on the contemporary world of popular and not-yet popular culture, art, music, politics, and entertainment. I hope it will be tasteful, sophisticated, fun, nerdy, and equal parts cerebral and guilty pleasure.
We’ll see what happens.

VP Debates, the bailout, and other inside the beltway news are all VP needs—it is content rich times—but I wanted to reach out in regards to the artist Brett Dennen. I saw all of your video posts and hoped you might be interested in Brett. I am working with him and his new album Hope for the Hopeless out October 21 on Downtown Records; Downtown have also released Gnarls Barkley, Cold ward Kids, and Carla Bruni’s record Comme Si De Rien N’était (As if Nothing Had Happened) of French pop and folk.
I wanted to offer Brett’s new song “Make You Crazy,” which was recently featured as the song of the week on iTunes, to you. Seems a perfect pre-election song in the vain of “What’s Going On.” “Make You Crazy” features Femi Kuti is available for posting: http://www.downtownmusic.com/content/bdmakeyoucrazy.mp3
I also have a YouTube clip of Brett performing the track live at the NYC NPR station WFUV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycqhqDKq5a0 from earlier this week.
Please let me know if you would like more information or to speak with Brett.

Hello —
I just wanted to pass on the link to this editorial piece by Ana Marie Cox on the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Cox recently signed on to be a regular contributor to Playboy.com and this is the first of her columns.
